RIP Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen, one of fashion's consummate inconoclasts and showmen, has committed suicide at age 40. Not sure if its hormones but we cried over this news. His presence in the fashion world will be missed.

DIY!

We found this DIY online at Carbon Couture and think it's genius!

Eugenia Kim Hairband featured in Lucky Mag

Supplies:
One piece of felt
Wide headband

Black grosgrain ribbon 2" width

Scissors

Hot glue gun

Thin Black Sharpi
e

1. Begin by cutting the piece if felt into a wide strip. Be sure it is long enough to cover the entire headband; cut diagonally along the arrows below

2. Put a dot of hot glue on one end of the headband, and press one end of the felt strip down on the glue. Make thin lines of glue along the inside edges of the headband and press the felt under. Make sure the felt is smooth along the outside surface of the headband. To create a finished look (and prevent glue from yanking out your hair!) glue the black ribbon on the inside of the headband. Cut off the excess ribbon with scissors.

3. Now it is time to add the trompe l'oeil buckle with a Sharpie. Near the top of the band, draw a large square covering the entire width of the headband. Draw a smaller square inside. Next, draw the long lines of the "belt" on either side of the buckle ending in a point. Go back and add details such as stitch marks and belt holes.

Enjoy! =)

Obsession of the Day

Feather Frocks!

Anne Hathaway and Jessica Alba hit the red carpet in style at the Hollywood premiere of Valentine’s Day, held on Monday (February 8) at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Anne wore a gown by Marchesa with Garrard jewelry, shoes by Casadei and a Roger Vivier bag, while Jessica paired a dress and bag by Proenza Schouler with shoes by Marc Jacobs and jewelry by Anndra Neen.

Marc Jacobs Sues Christian Audigier

Marc Jacobs on the Left (duh), Ed Hardy on the Right (Ugh!)

Just the title makes us all giddy! Ugh! Just thinking about Ed Hardy wants us want to RANT! k...we're calm =) He is suing for trade-dress and trademark infringement over a handbag that's suspiciously similar to one he designed. The lawsuit is to prevent consumers from confusing Christian Audigier with Marc Jacobs. HA! Don't worry Marc we never will! Even if they lose, we're pretty sure consumers will be able to keep the two straight, but when someone seemingly takes your design and puts a tattoo-print fish on it, the offense is that much worse.

Seeing Double? We Are!
